Zotero Library Update

I have updated my open Zotero library this week. It now has 632 items. I have divided the library into three collections:

  • Digitised Maps and Geo-Data
  • History & GIS Publications (i.e. secondary literature)
  • Tutorials and textbooks.

Digitised maps and the tutorial collections are resources that I have used myself, or come recommended by others. Suggestions for inclusion are most welcome.  These two collections are intended to help others find sources for their research, and to get started with using GIS. It has been created as an open Library so that anyone can search and download the information for their own purposes.

The publications collection is the result of searching on three literature  databases: Historical Abstracts, America: History & Life and the Bibliography of British and Irish History.  I used a combination of keyword and subject terms. Originally, this was intended to allow students to see examples of how historians have used GIS.  But it has now developed into a project to carry out a bibliometric analysis of the use of GIS within history. Further posts to follow.
